What's New

Health Care for the Homeless translates its direct service experience into powerful advocacy on behalf of people without homes. HCH understands homelessness as the most tragic symptom of poverty. People who are poor are left increasingly vulnerable by restricted access to comprehensive services and addiction treatment, housing which is not affordable, jobs which fail to pay a living wage and inadequate financial assistance for those with disabilities.

Tonight, 3,000 men, women and children in Baltimore will find themselves without a regular place to stay. Over the course of the next year, at least 30,000 of our friends and neighbors will experience homelessness in Baltimore City alone – over 50,000 men, women and children statewide.

On local, state and national levels, HCH advocates for universal health care, accessible emergency shelter, permanent affordable housing, and adequate incomes for poor individuals and families. HCH is committed to changing public policies which perpetuate conditions of poverty and homelessness in Baltimore and throughout Maryland.
