Students and Educators Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I would like someone from your organization to speak to a class about homelessness & health and the services you provide.  How may I arrange this?
A: In fulfillment of the educational component of our mission, HCH speaks frequently with students from a range of disciplines.  Please contact our Community Relations Coordinator at info@hchmd.org or 410-837-5533.

Q: Do you conduct tours of your facility?
A: There are few better ways to understand the work and mission of Health Care for the Homeless than to tour our clinical facility.  In order to minimize disruption of our services, we ask that you schedule tours in advance.  Please contact our Community Relations Coordinator at info@hchmd.org or 410-837-5533.

Q: My school would like to start a drive to collect items to help your clients. What kind of items do you need and how would we deliver them?
A: HCH appreciates in-kind contributions of personal care items and other necessities.  Given limited space and constantly changing needs, please contact us before you start the drive to ensure we have the capacity to store and use the items.  For more information, contact our Development Associate at info@hchmd.org or 410-837-5533.

Q: How may I explore an internship with HCH, and what kind of opportunities do you offer?
A: HCH professional staff are trained in a variety of fields including medicine, nursing, mental health, social work, addictions, policy, financial development, and administration.  Internships are arranged on a case-by-case basis depending upon the needs of the organization.  To work with clients, you typically need to be part of a clinically-oriented program which can provide liability insurance.  Such programs are traditionally in the medical professions or social work.  For more information, contact our Director of Human Resources at 410-837-5533 ex 1304.

Q: Do you have volunteer opportunities? How do I become a volunteer?
A: Please visit our volunteer page for more information.
