What: Our fourth Community of Practice on Homelessness topic is Addressing Food Insecurity: Race, Access, and Health. Participants will include a cross-section of faith and community-based, education, business, health care, government, law enforcement and philanthropic leaders. Please join Baltimore City Health Commissioner Dr. Letitia Dzirasa, Co-founder and Servant-Director of Black Yield Institute Eric Jackson and Executive Director of Moveable Feast Susan Elias for our upcoming Community of Practice on Homelessness conversation. The panel will be moderated by Kevin Lindamood, President and CEO of Health Care for the Homeless.

  • This session will briefly assess and explain how structural racialization and bias has led to food insecurities and a lack of access (exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic), specifically in distressed communities of color (especially among individuals experiencing homelessness), expressed through the speakers own lenses.
  • We'll create awareness around food insecurity and equip the audience with tangible tools to address their own biases and promote access for communities that are food insecure.
  • Panelists will discuss the need to abandon “status quo/business as usual” policies, strategies and practices that perpetuate inequities that lead to and perpetuate food insecurity and limit access.
