2025: In a year of rising pressure...

Across the country, new policies are pushing people out of sight instead of into housing. In many ways, homelessness is getting the wrong kind of attention

Teal graphics of a tent, handcuffs, ambulance and ban accompany text that says Encampment sweeps instead of housing, fines and jail time instead of rent people can afford, emergency room visits instead of primary care, more red tape instead of easy access to basic services

Two tents in a grassy area, with text overlaid: "For every $100 rise in rent, homelessness increases 9%." "300+ cities have passed bills that punish people for sleeping in public when they have nowhere else to go."

WE FOCUSED on what works

GROUNDING IN EVIDENCE

"Having this support system and being properly informed - I feel more powerful and confident. It balances out the fear."

- Jerome Wright, faced his first colonoscopy with help from patient navigator Kim Taylor

WORKING IN COMMUNITY

"I never do anything for myself, but I make sure I come here for me."

- Healing Us Sister Circle participant, a support group for and by Black women with high blood pressure

ROOTING CARE IN HOUSING

"It just didn't get right until I got my own spot."

- Horace Hollins, hasn't been back to the hospital since moving into his apartment

Nearly 12,000

Adults and families accessed care and housing.

We fought for change

In the face of federal challenges and harmful rhetoric, clients and staff teamed up to protect health care and housing.

Through strong advocacy with state and local partners, we:

  • protected Maryland Medicaid funding
  • kept telehealth coverage
  • removed barriers to building housing Baltimoreans can afford

We took new steps to end homelessness

In 2025, we didn't just respond, we expanded access to care, housing and support.

Launched a dedicated STREET MEDICINE program

  • 4 out of 5 people we meet on the streets are new to Health Care for the Homeless

Re-opened our West Baltimore DENTAL CLINIC

  • 500 more adults and kids got dental care than the year before

Secured financing for two new APARTMENT BUILDINGS:

Because you believe in a healthier community for all of us!

None of this happens on its own. You—our grantors, local and state partners, nonprofit collaborators, and donors—keep showing up.

Private support grew by 7%, totaling $3.8 MILLION from 5,602 gifts

  • 1,700 Turnstile fans reminded us that every bit counts ($50,000 raised with $30 average donation)
  • Maryland Office of Overdose Response Opioid Restitution Fund award to expand outreach and care
  • Bank of America Neighborhood Builders award to fund housing efforts and leadership training

Going strong after 40 years

We work to end homelessness through racially equitable health care, housing and advocacy in partnership with those of us who have experienced it.
