To celebrate Earth Day, the Maryland Transit Administration is offering free rides on any local bus, light rail, Metro Subway, MARC train, commuter bus and Mobility paratransit on Tuesday, 4/22. Read more.

The Maryland Transit Administration is suspending all Baltimore Metro subway service starting Friday, 11/8/24 at 8 pm, until 4 am Monday, 11/11/24. There will be shuttle bus services between closed stations. Read more.

The National Weather Service has issued multiple hazardous weather advisories for Baltimore City. The Robert C. Marshall Center will be open as emergency shelter Friday, August 9 and Saturday, August 10. Bad Air Quality Alert: The Baltimore region will experience unhealthy air quality Friday, 6/30. Individuals with heart or lung disease, older adults, children, and teens are encouraged to avoid long or intense outdoor activities. Learn more and find a day center where you can take refuge.

The Mayor's Office of Homeless Services has activated a winter shelter declaration for Monday, 3/16 at 4PM through Wednesday, 3/18 at 9AM. Shelter seekers should call 211 or contact the Baltimore City Shelter Hotline at 443-984-9540. Get more info here.

The winter shelter status is ACTIVE Friday, March 22 through Sunday, March 24 at 8 a.m. Extra shelter space will be available for single adults and families and warming centers (find a full list here). Find more details here. 

The city’s emergency shelter plan for Hurricane Florence is in effect Thursday, September 13 at 4 p.m. until Saturday, September 15 at 9 a.m. During this time, service providers will offer additional outreach services, increased shelter capacity and transportation. Find details here.

ADVOCACY ALERT: Baltimore City residents--contact your councilperson to urge them to vote for Bill 18-0221 to put money into the city's empty Affordable Housing Trust Fund! Contact your lawmaker now.

Code blue status in effect Friday, March 10 through Wednesday, March 15 at 11 a.m. Additional shelter beds available. Single adults call Weinberg Housing Resource Center at 410- 478-3777. Families call Sarah’s Hope at 410-396-2204 or Salvation Army at 410-685-8878.

Winter shelter status. Winter shelter status is in effect until 11 a.m. on Monday, January 16. Additional beds are available. Single adult males go to WHRC or call 443-478-3777. If they are at capacity, families will be transported to alternate locations.
