Homeless Persons' Memorial Day 2025
On Homeless Persons' Memorial Day, we gathered at McKeldin Square to remember our neighbors without homes who passed away in 2025. Streamers of paper homes displayed the names of friends and relatives, though we recognize that many names are missing from this memorial.
This year's theme was "Housing is Health Care," a refrain that unites us as we recommit to ending the brutal experience of homelessness in our community. No one should live or die without a home.
In his remarks, President & CEO Kevin Lindamood said, "Tonight, we speak into the silence the names of people known to have experienced homelessness who died in Baltimore this year. We speak their names because they mattered to us. We break the silence with cries for the names of so many we do not know – lest they be swallowed by it. We cry out tonight because their humanity mattered."
