Health Care for the Homeless is participating in the annual Youth REACH (Reach out, Engage, Assist, & Count to end Homelessness) MD survey. In Baltimore City, the survey will be conducted March 5–18, and in Baltimore County, March 12–25.
An unaccompanied youth experiencing homelessness is defined as someone:
- 24 years of age or younger
- Not in the physical custody or care of a parent or legal guardian
- Lacking a fixed, regular or adequate nighttime residence
If you know someone who is an unaccompanied youth experiencing homeless, please refer them to the CAAs on the first floor or help desk volunteers at 421 Fallsway. Surveys will also be available at the front desks at all other Health Care for the Homeless locations. The survey is quick, confidential and completely voluntary. The survey is also available online.
Led by the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development, Youth REACH MD is an initiative started in 2013 under legislation passed by the Maryland General Assembly. Through surveying young adults who are experiencing homelessness in Maryland, the count aims to better understand—and address—the unique characteristics of youth homelessness.
