Communications support: What is it and how do I get it?

08.08.18

We’re glad you asked! The Communications team consists of our (new!) Communications Manager Hanna Mast and Communications Specialist Gabbi Thacker and is a part of the Strategy department.

The Top 8 Best practices

The Communications team uses best practices to create and inform agency materials—such as flyers, brochures, presentations or portal and website posts, just to name a few. We help with formatting, branding consistency and making sure language is easy to understand. To help you understand what we aim for (we know, it can be a lot!), we’ve created this handy list of 8 key themes for your reference: Communications—what to expect. You’ll quickly see that we do more than format and edit documents! We help you think about Big Picture questions and ensure that your materials hit the mark. For instance…

  • Who is your audience?
  • What is it that you want them to do?
  • How does your project (or the timing of your project) align with, and how might we leverage, other agency activities?
  • Is any information missing? Is any information unnecessary?
  • Are there other staff members or clients who should or could help inform this project?

Easy Peasy Access to Help

You know how you email support@hchmd.org and Shawntez shows up and magically fixes everything? Or when you email facilities@hchmd.org because, say, your ceiling is leaking water from who knows where, and then Leroy comes over with a ladder and patches it up, no problem?

Well, we want to make your line to the Communications team just as straightforward! This Communications support form can help with all that.

When you need communications support you can now submit a form right here. Then, Gabbi or Hanna will reach out to get your project going. Here's what that looks like, in graphic form (that's right, comms can even make graphics!):

These new resources will permanently live on the Communications Resources page.

You can also email communications@hchmd.org anytime with communications-related questions and a support ticket will automatically be generated.

Happy communicating!
