Rallying for health, housing and incomes

02.26.16

Thursday, February 25, was Lobby Day here at Health Care for the Homeless, the one day a year where we close all of our clinics and trek to Annapolis to spend the day meeting with lawmakers, testifying in hearings and rallying in support of bills that advance our mission and our work to prevent and end homelessness. More than 200 staff members, clients and friends piled aboard the buses this year to advocate for affordable housing, quality health care and livable incomes for all.

We had staff members and clients testify in support of legislation to maintain and expand access to safety net resources like cash assistance, clinical crisis walk-in services and dental care for vulnerable individuals and families. We joined numerous partner organizations for an outdoor rally. And we had the honor of kicking it all off with a special recognition by the House of Delegates for our 30 years of service.

Thank you, Health Care for the Homeless community, for a fabulously successful—and very fun—day!
