With new funding, we'll house 65 people

03.08.16

The federal Department of Housing and Community Development has renewed funding for the existing “Homeward Bound” supportive housing program here at Health Care for the Homeless. Additionally—and in an important recognition of the critical role of supportive housing—it awarded Health Care for the Homeless a $1,081,445 “Bonus Project” to house 65 individuals in 55 scattered-site housing units. The funding pays for actual rent costs, along with the supportive services necessary to keep vulnerable people stably housed and off the streets.

Every day here at Health Care for the Homeless, we see how access to housing improves health and transforms lives. We are grateful to all those responsible for making possible this latest step in our efforts to expand our housing capacity—with special shout outs to our Director of Grants Management, Margaret Flanagan, and our Director of Housing Services, Lawanda Williams, along with our entire Supportive Housing team.
