March is here, but there is no guarantee the cold nights are behind us.
Baltimore City has announced that overflow shelter will be available every night through the end of March—regardless of temperature.
Under its Continuum of Care homeless services program, the city has provided overflow shelter on days forecasted to be less than 32 degrees. But now through March 31, additional overflow beds for men and women will be available every night at the Maryland Center for Veterans Education and Training and The Baltimore Station.
The Weinberg Housing and Resource Center will coordinate referrals and transportation to overflow shelters as needed. Meanwhile, the Weinberg center (620 Fallsway) and Maryland Veterans center (301 North High Street) should continue to be the go-to sites for single adults seeking beds.
Sarah’s Hope at 12041 Reisterstown Road in Reisterstown will continue to be the main access point for families and will coordinate family overflow space as needed.
